20 X 10 oil on wood panel. This man was a mystery when he caught my attention, and remains one. My first impression was of one of the many homeless people I see on the streets of downtown Austin. But he was clean and his gear looked new. Yet there was something very sad, maybe lost, in his expression.

I made some changes. The background is glazed to create the misty atmosphere of the day and the flower color now echoes the color of her dress.

What a great surprise to arrive at the opening of the Wimberley Valley Art League jusied show and find that my little diptych had won the Best in Show prize!

I seldom do still lifes, but these bowls had such nice glazes that I was drawn paint them with some puckery scarves.
