Awakening to Mirth

I reworked this one and may do a few more adjustments. Can you tell that I enjoyed painting this man?

Breakfast service

On my painting trip to the Cote d' Azur, we were served an amazing "American" breakfast every morning at our hotel in Monaco. We kept the poor waiter running, mostly for refills of coffee. Our American appetite for coffee seemed excessive to the servers, who couldn't make it fast enough for our large motley group of artists.

Secret Mirth

When I first saw this man sitting on a city bench waiting for a bus, he looked like he was deep in thought. I took a series of photos of him as he went from looking very deep in serious thought to breaking out into laughter. It was a wonderful transition.

Pink Elephant Dreams

When I switched to oils for portraits, I never thought I'd touch acrylics again for anything. I almost packed them all up and gave them away, but held off long enough to think about their usefulness. But it never occurred to me that I'd be painting non-objective paintings with them and enjoying the way they handle. I did these two paintings this weekend (and little else except eating and brushing my teeth.) 8 X 10

This is a little study, 6 X 6. I did it from a photo taken immediately before the reference photo for First Bubbles of Mirth, which is awaiting some revisions.
